Specialty Sewing Projects
Various specialty sewing and crafting projects over the years, from millinery, to knitting, to costumes made for specific shows.
Edwardian Hat-
My very first millinery project! Using wire and stiff interfacing, I made the hat base and covered it in embroidered cotton and printed silk. I decorated it with premade flowers and other accessories. I used black cotton bias tape where needed.
Harry Styles Cardigan-
My first hand knit cardigan! Made from wool yarn (size 6 and 4) in a rainbow of different colors, this cardigan used the official JW Anderson pattern that was released for free online.
Corset-
Made in college for my Historical Costuming class. Used white twill fabric, spiral boning, bias tape, and white cotton thread. Secured with metal eyelets and lacing.
Makeup Looks-
Looks based on different musicians, the top row being David Bowie's "Blue Jean" look, and the bottom row based on Cherry from the animated band Studio Killers. Done with eyeshadow, foundation,
concealer, lipstick, powder, and and eyeliner.
Dress from "Fancy"-
Used a printed floral chiffon and pink lining. More information and onstage photos under the "Fancy" page, linked under theatre costumes.
Dress from "A Christmas Carol"-
Made from a floral beige upholstery fabric, featuring a gathered elastic neckline, lace and floral accessories, and puffed sleeves. More information and onstage photos under the "Christmas Carol" page, linked under theatre costumes.
Dress from "Clean House"-
Made from a printed floral chiffon, and lined with navy fabric. Draped in muslin beforehand. More information and onstage photos under the "Portland Stage" page, linked under theatre costumes.
Patchwork Quilts-
Made of cotton fabric, cut into squares, with a unique larger backing piece. Lined with quilt batting, and edges finished with bias tape.
"Star vs the Forces of Evil" Purse-
Made of yellow cotton with a painted on face. The white eyeballs are made of felt. It has a zipper closure, black nylon straps, bias tape edge finishing, and a pink fur lining. The base is made of stiff interfacing.
Gertrude McFuzz Costume from "Seussical the Musical"-
Made of a heart print blue cotton, this dress has a parka zipper on the back. With a fake boa tail contained in a pouch under the dress, the hole created by the double zipper allowed her tail to magically grown onstage. It has a matching belt that held a rented extra long tail onto her body. Decorated with white rick rack and white feathers on the sleeve.
