Hocus Pocus Cosplay
Made and put together during 2020.
The 1993 Disney movie "Hocus Pocus" centers around Max and his little sister Dani who just moved to the witch-y town of Salem. They hear the story of the Sanderson sisters, witches who were hanged for their crimes in the 1600's, but fated to come back when a virgin lights their black flame candle. When Max, Dani, and their new friend Allison sneak into the Sanderson house on Halloween, they accidently bring back the evil witches. Will they be able to send them back to the grave?
I've always loved Dani's extremely 90's witch costume she wears in the movie. I recreated it so I could wear it as a fun Halloween look! The top was handmade by me, made of red cotton and lined with silver fabric. I added eyelets down the front and put yarn there to tie it together. I painted the suns and stars on with fabric paint, and drew the faces on with black pen. The skirt was also handmade by me, using black cotton, red fringe, and a variety of colorful trims. It has an elasticized waist. I also knitted her skinny scarf, which was just a basic black yarn with yellow, orange, and red yarn tied to create fringe. I also created the witch hat from scratch, using black cotton, stiff interfacing for the base, orange bias tape for the hat band, and flowers and other accessories to decorate. Worn with a silver beaded star necklace, orange tights, and boots.
